Afterlight has all the talent it needs to be the next Baldur's Gate 3.

He's hoping to take the throne in another popular RPG romance option, with Sterling threatening, “Watch out, Astarion.”

A dangerous threat to have with Astarion in the room — Newbon immediately fires back with a smug grin typical of vampire spawn, replying “No, honey, no” and asserting that Astarion's superior intelligence means he will remain a fan favorite. However, he praised Alexander's work and felt that Sterling's gentlemanly character meant he stood out from the darker, morally ambiguous Astarion.

“There’s a certain element of gentlemanliness. [in Sterling]. Kind of like a gentleman spy. He will be very careful. So there are certainly comparisons in some ways, but Sterling is his own character. “It’s quite far from Astarion.”

When developing the character of Sterling, Alexander took inspiration from several “noble” characters and romantic heroes, while also adding a few rogue types.
