Foundation – November 15, 2024
Magic: The Gathering's Standard format hasn't been in the best position as people flock to it since the pandemic. Commander, Modern or Pioneer Instead, play with paper. Wizar'd's recent goals have all been about improving Standard, and Foundations is the culmination of that plan.
While the other sets are only legal in Standard for three years, Foundations is designed to be the foundation of the format and will remain legal for as long as Wizards deems necessary (until at least 2029). A mix of reprints and new cards, and specifically designed to help new players learn how to play, these cards are somewhat similar to the existing core set but have a longer lifespan.
Along with Play and Collector Boosters, Foundations also comes with the Beginner Box and Starter Collection, two ways to learn the game, starting with the basics and progressing to the more complex aspects of Magic.

Innistrad Remastered – January 2025
Typically the first set per year is This is a 'remastering' set that focuses on reprinting. Ravnica Remastered was released in 2024, Dominaria in 2023, and Innistrad: Double Feature in 2022. This set was so poorly received that Wizards is coming back for a second attempt at an ultimate set based on one of gaming's most popular games. airplane.
Innistrad Remastered A card earned each time you previously visited Innistrad.A world of werewolves, spirits, vampires and zombies. Including cards from the original block, the Shadows Over Inistrad block, Midnight Hunt, and Crimson Vow, this should be the carefully curated draft experience we all hoped the Double Feature would be.
It's also been revealed that the set will include one of the best vampire commanders in the game, with the original Edgar Markov being one of the key chase cards in the set.
This will probably be the first remastered set. Double-sided card includedBecause it is a core part of Innistrad's identity.
Ether Drift – February 14, 2025
that The first of a whopping 6 standard-legal sets In 2025, Aetherdrift is a death race led by Omenpath that spans three dimensions. Each team of racers chooses one of ten color pairs to create: force in disguise.
Kaladesh, Amonkhet, and Muraganda's main set debutAetherdrift offers many synergies for artifacts, especially vehicles.
It's a nice change from the magic-filled Duskmourn. Former Planeswalker Dareti returns It's been a while and I'm always grateful.
As it is a major set, Aetherdrift Available in full array. February's Play & Collector Boosters, Bundles, and Commander Decks.
Tarkir: Dragonstorm – April 11, 2025
Tarkir has been one of the settings players have been using for a long time. Most Frequently Requested ReturnsAnd after over a decade, it's finally happening in Tarkir: Dragonstorm.
This set is meant to combine the core elements we loved from the last two main sets. In the original Tarkir block, the Tricolor tribe was erased from history, They're back with Dragonstormside by side Ferocious Dragons That makes the Dragons of Tarkir great in its own right.
So far we haven't seen the card, but from what it has revealed: Woojin and Sarkhan Kwon They both came back. Why isn't Ugin spying on Nicol Bolas? Who knows? But Sarkhan seems to be having the time of his life.
I haven't heard of a precon deck yet, but 5 clans would be the best fit. Major Commander releases in 2025.
Final Fantasy – June 13, 2025
Final Fantasy marks a major turning point for Magic: The Gathering. that Second full Universes Beyond crossover seThe Lord of the Rings: It doesn't follow the story of Middle-earth, but it's more than that.
With this set, Universes Beyond standard lawand go further Modern and Pioneer Legal.
Final Fantasy features cards based on every mainline numbered game. Up to and including Final Fantasy 16. The art released so far confirms the likes of Emet, Kefka, Tidus, Yuna, and Sephiroth, as well as icons from the series like the Moogles.
You can also get Commander Decks, Bundles, Play, and Collector Boosters as described below: Most pieces of Final Fantasy art It was never released as a single game.
It'll be interesting to see how it impacts the game, and I'll be very disappointed if FF15's Ignis isn't a new Food token-centric legend.
Edge Of Eternities – August 1, 2025
Kamigawa: 2022 Neon Dynasty showed us that. Magic: The Gathering Can Do Sci-FiAnd Edge of Eternities takes it one step further. We're Exploding for the Next space based set It's filled with dogfights, planets, and cyborgs.
We currently know very little about the Edge of Eternities. Introducing Aliens to Standard for the First Time And it features the return of Tezzeret. He could do virtually anything, as he was last seen active for or against Phyrexia during the invasion of the multiverse.
With this set, The standards are spinning again. And we say goodbye to Dominaria United, The Brothers' War, Phyrexia: All Will Be One, March Of The Machine, and March Of The Machine: The Aftermath.
This is Final circulation by early 2027Instead of a fall release, it will begin next year.
Spider-Man – 2025 TBA
that Second of three Universes Beyond sets Planned for 2025, it's also the first major crossover with Marvel, which was announced nearly two years ago. It would be interesting to see an entire set showcasing Spider-Man and his allies, and of course his villains, focus on just one part of the Marvel universe.
Just like Final Fantasy Spider-Man is legal in Standard, Modern, and Pioneer. This means you can enjoy the full core product lineup consisting of boosters, decks, bundles and boxes. It also There's a good chance we'll get at least a few Secret Lair releases. Also, you can't have someone as big as Spider-Man and go all out on it.
we don't have Specific release date As for Spider-Man, it hasn't been released yet, but it will most likely be released around the end of September in the same slot as 2024's Duskourn: House of Horror.
Unpublished Universe Beyond the Set – TBA 2025
that 2025 Final Standards-Legal Set It is also what we know least about. Currently codenamed UUB (Unannounced Universes Beyond), it is a complete set of crossovers similar to The Lord of the Rings, Final Fantasy, and Spider-Man. The only catch is we don't know what it is yet.
we know It's not Marvel. As confirmed by lead designer Mark Rosewater. This also rules out Warhammer, Lord of the Rings, Arcane, Assassin's Creed, Fallout, Doctor Who, Fortnite, Tomb Raider, Stranger Things, and Street Fighter as new properties never before seen in Magic.
Here are our guesses so far: Avatar: The Last Airbender from Star TrekBut it will be a long time before we know exactly what it is.
“Return to Lorwyn” – Q1 2026 This image is from a previous trip to Lorwyn (and its evil version, Shadowmoor). Nothing has been shown about this yet.
that First set of standards in 2026 Which brings us to another highly requested flight. Lorwyn's Celtic Fantasy A surprise comeback. Unfortunately, an announcement from Beyond the Universe was made that wasn't announced at MagicCon: Vegas 2024. Pushed Lorwyn from late 2025 to early 2026..
Lorwyn wasn't a popular set when it was first released, but it had a mix of Celtic imagery and a Kindred theme. Fairy, Elf, Kitkin, Goblin, Merfolk Made it one of the most unique. We've seen a lot of first outings coming back all-time recently from both Kamigawa and Ixalan, so perhaps Lorwyn will be next on the list?
Lorwyn Should be released with Play and Collector boosters And while a Commander deck set is included, it's taking so long to release that the product lineup will likely change by then.
“Return to Aravios” – Q2 2026 This image is from Strixhaven: School of Mages, 2021.
The most distant sets we know of are: Return to ArcaviusThis is the plane that 2021's Strixhaven: School of Mages is based on. Although the name suggests you'll see more of the wider plane, it also includes: Return to Strixhaven School And there are 5 universities.
Strixhaven had a lasting impact on Magic. Many characters have since appeared in other sets, for example Quintorius Kand from The Lost Caverns of Ixalan and Zimone Wola from Duskmourn. We can probably expect another focused set next. Instant magic and magicAnd perhaps the return of the acclaimed magic mechanic.
This is probably Third set to be released in 2026After an unannounced release at the beginning of the year, and a few months after that, Lorwyn. This should include Play and Collector boosters and Commander decks, but we've got well over a year left until we start seeing more, so Magic could look very different by then.
