All games will be released on PS Plus in October 2024

PlayStation Plus was a subscription service that gave you a few free games each month and access to online features for other titles. Looking to come up with something that looks more like Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation is shaking things up in 2022 and introducing a tiered PS Plus system. You now have three options to choose from: Essential, Extra, and Premium. Each tier costs more than the previous tier, but paying more gives you access to more features and a larger library of games.

Essential is the same as the existing PS Plus. This is the cheapest option as you can play online and get a few free games every month. Extra offers even more benefits by opening up a library of PS4 and PS5 games that you can download and play for a subscription price. Last but not least is Premium, which includes everything you get with Extra and access to PlayStation's library of classics, as well as demos for a variety of new games. New games are added to each tier each month, and below you'll find the games you can get throughout October, regardless of which tier you're subscribed to, as well as links to upgrade or sign up for your subscription. There is currently no PS Plus.

PS Plus Essentials

The cheapest tier of PS Plus is Essential, which is essentially the Plus tier before the 2022 overhaul. This is the tier you need to play most games online, and it also gives you a few free games each month. As well as games that you can play for a month and swap out for another game after four weeks, there are also games that you can download and keep for as long as you have a PS Plus subscription. When your subscription expires, you'll have to wait until you resubscribe to play the games you downloaded for free.

PlayStation often does a great job of including games for everyone, even though Essential only allows you to claim three games per month. October's trio illustrates this perfectly. At the forefront is WWE 2K24. Some of you might be having trust issues with the wrestling series, even after the disaster that was WWE 2K20. Now is the perfect time to check back, as you can claim the latest game in the series for free through Essential.

A very different game currently available through Essential is Dead Space. The remake of the space horror classic was released less than two years ago and deserves more attention and praise than it received when it was released. I hope a whole new audience will now have a chance to play this game. Completing October's must-have games is Exciting Literature Club. What's very different is that, despite the bright colors, it's technically a horror game. That's all for now and try to solve the mystery of the game yourself.

A PS Plus Extra subscription gives you access to the entire library of PS4 and PS5 games. Like Xbox Game Pass, Extra will feature new titles every month, and like Xbox, some games will also be retired. Ten more games will be added to Extra this month, all of which will be available to download and play starting October 15th.

Two major arrivals on Extra this month are Dead Island 2 and Two Point Campus. Dead Island 2 is the sequel ten years in the making, finally released after what felt like endless delays just over a year ago. Now you can experience the Dead Island sequel in all its gory glory on PS Plus. Or from October 15th. Two Point Campus is the latest game in the Two Point series, following the success of Two Point Hospital. , and arrives ahead of next year's Two Point Museum.

As excited as I am to play both of the games mentioned above, I'm choosing Gris as the best game coming to Extra this October. I missed Gris when it came out and I'm so excited to finally be able to give it a try. Neva, the next game from the creator of Gris, arrives on Extra the same day it launches across multiple platforms. Play Gris on Extra and select Neva for the ultimate Nomada combo. Among the seven other games coming to Extra this month are last year's Tour de France game and Return To Monkey Island.

PS Plus Premium

By subscribing to Premium, you can easily access all the contents of additional libraries along with premium library bonuses. Where previously PlayStation was slowly starting to build a back catalog playable on its latest platform, you can now also find PS VR2 games included in your subscription via Premium.

Joining the PS VR2 library in Premium on October 15th is The Last Clockwinder. In this unique VR game, you must perform a task, duplicate it, and then move on to another task while the duplicate task performs the remaining tasks. Eventually, you'll do enough to save the galaxy's clocktower.

Not as many people want to buy the PS VR2 as the PlayStation, so the real draw for Premium subscribers is classic games, and there are some big ones this month. The original Dino Crisis joined PS Plus Premium this October. No, Capcom is not giving us any new artwork or rematter. But at least we'll be able to play the original on a modern platform soon. Adding to Premium this month are Siren and R Type Dimensions DX.

You no longer need a PS5 to use PS VR2. Your headset is now compatible with Steam VR games on PC. However, doing so requires purchasing a $60 adapter and not all features of the PS VR2 will work.

PS Plus withdrawal

As always, some games will have to leave PS Plus to make room for games that arrive, and there are also some big titles leaving the service this October. The most highly rated game is LittleBigPlanet 3. The Sackboy game is scheduled to leave the PS Store on October 31st, so it makes sense for PlayStation to remove it from PS Plus before then. Gotham Knights, various Dragon Quest games, and all the other games listed below are leaving PS Plus on October 15th.
