Baldur's Gate 3 actor says queer and various stories are removed from video games.

Since Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election in 2024, the company and his executives have tried to promptly and favor curry. This included abandoning the DEI initiative and policies, and more companies later joined with Trump's anti -Dei administrative order. Many of these initiatives were strictly related to employment practices, but the feelings of these policy changes were found everywhere as racist, transpopy and other large laws and attitudes increased.

The game industry is not immune to this. Actor Samantha Béart, who played Karlach in BALDUR's Gate 3, says he already knows the game developers who have already censored the work because the industry seems to be bowing to Trump's second term.

Queer stories may be censored in the game

This appeared in a conversation with Béart when we feared that the various games as Baldur's Gate 3 in our current climate would now be struggling to get green.

“If you do not expose the devs, I know that it is happening. Their storyline is cut.” They tell me. “Historically, the appeal is really bad.”

Nevertheless, they are optimistic that this will not last forever. “Indie exists. And people can write, the community will come together, and we will completely pass this work.”

This also occurs in the revival of the Gamergate movement, where developers, journalists and other people in the game industry are harassing online. We often see that games with characters, not white, are not sold properly. BALDUR's Gate 3 was clearly testified as reported to have sold 15 million copies as of November 2024.

Not everyone in the industry is going backwards, as Béart suggests. Indie scenes can allow more creative freedoms because there are no presenter. It is worth noting that BALDUR's Gate 3 is also published in its own. This is not that we have not returned before. In the 2000s, we saw that Mass Effect 2 devs had to write queer romance of companion Jack in response to the negative interest of Fox News. We have been a long way since then.
