Now we all know that Need for Speed, Battlefield and SKATE are all properties of Electronic Arts and all of them have received new entries except for the currently released Need for Speed. As it turns out, there may actually be more to it than shared publishers and peers for these titles.
As Cameron Leverton shared on Twitter, the ads seen for these three games were all found in their respective universes.
For example, Double Dip Donuts, a fictional corporation that exists in Need for Speed Unbound, can also be found in World 6 of Battlefield and the world of San Vansterdam in SKATE.
Things got even worse when one commenter shared that the same ad was present as a sponsor in EA's UFC game.
Many people quickly began to speculate that this meant that EA's games would all share the same universe, the EA Cinematic Universe (EACU), but this may be a prime example of asset sharing.
That said, this isn't the first time a game has shared the same world as another game.
Movies aren't the only thing we share a universe with
There's no confirmation yet about the existence of a potential EACU, but we do know that Dishonored and Deathloop take place in the same universe, as do all Remedy games like Alan Wake, Control, and Quantum Break.
Let's not forget that Titanfall and Apex Legends are also connected. But Titanfall fans will probably want to pretend Apex doesn't exist because they won't get a new game or anything like that. That said, shared universe work has been done before, but sharing some assets may become more complicated.
