- Scythes are a common sight in video games, transforming from a tool into a powerful weapon using a “cool” rule.
- Mastery of movement is essential, and users can easily take down multiple enemies with the right techniques.
- Scythes, which appear in games like The Outer Worlds, Final Fantasy XIV, and Dante's Inferno, offer unique abilities in combat.
In the real world, “scythe technology” is not advanced enough to be used consistently on farms, much less on the battlefield. But in video games, the law of cool has made the scythe a permanent staple of mob-killing operations, with many instances of the humble harvesting tool being transformed into a powerful weapon.
From RPGs to action games, its sinister design evokes the atmosphere of death, and its wielder becomes a soul-stealer (and in many cases, literally). Using the scythe requires some mastery of movement, but those with the right level of finesse can easily take down multiple enemies at once. When used as a practical weapon, the harvest itself becomes a reward.
Outer Worlds
Eliminate the hassle of bureaucracy
Medieval-style weaponry might seem out of place in a game about sterile, system-wide hypercapitalism destroying spaceships and all hope for the future, but a touch of feudalism fused with hot plasma technology fits the era perfectly. Outer Worlds.
Most of these two-handed flesh-rending weapons are called Inferno Scythes (a product and trademark of Aramid Ballistics) and are perfect for tearing apart fleshy enemies, but are not effective against automatic machines or heavy armor. Premium “Inferno Scythe Gold” can also be purchased (or found) by higher-level players.
Final Fantasy 14
Soul-Shrouded Reaper only
The Ripper class was introduced as follows: Final Fantasy 14' is the “Endwalker” expansion pack. These Void-carrying Avengers use what were once their humble farming tools to harvest the souls of their enemies in the most vicious ways possible, becoming living beings. Memento Mori For the grim fate of all mortals. But hints of their botanical roots are still sprinkled throughout the Reaper's craft.
Naturally, the Reaper is adept at dealing high-level damage bursts up close to any enemy within range, at least after Whirl of Death is unlocked. The only downside to this class is that it has a base level requirement of 70 to play, meaning players will have to gain experience before channeling their inner Grimdark Edgelord and reaping the rewards.
Dante's Divine Comedy
Separate the sinner from the saint
Damned for eternity and somehow defeating Death in single combat, Dante seizes the Scythe of the Grim Reaper and vows to redeem himself for his loved ones. But upon returning home, his father and wife's souls are taken. Naturally, Dante enters Hell to wage war against Lucifer and his army.
Dante's Divine Comedy's scythe cuts in a wide arc, striking hard and slamming down upon the poor, rotten souls of the underworld. Flawless strikes build up a combo meter, unlocking deadly finishing moves. As Dante continues to explore the circles of Hell, he will gain new abilities to complement his scythe attacks.
Dawn of Darkness
A worthy weapon to eliminate the endless influx of trash mobs.
For a game with the word “grim” in the title, it may come as no surprise that a two-handed scythe is offered as a melee weapon. Dawn of Darkness. Thanks to the mix-and-match class system (or “mastery system”), almost any build can potentially benefit from using it. For example, a Necromancer pairs perfectly with a Soldier or Shaman.
Grim Dawn is a game about slaying hundreds of thousands of jagged, blood-splattering enemies, and there is no greater feeling than blasting through hordes of the undead with this weapon. This weapon can be found as a random drop. The Advanced Scythe can be found at the end of the game, but thanks to the Illusionist NPC, any two-handed weapon can be converted into a Scythe skin.
Guild Wars: Nightfall
Spinning, wind-walking dervish

This melee attack mystic can only be used on: nightfall It's a campaign, but you can move on to other games. Guild Wars It's a multiplayer game, but solo play is also possible. The scythe is the most powerful area-of-effect weapon in the game, thanks in part to its variety of skills.
Darksiders 2
The only thing better than one is two sickles.
Among games that use scythes, it is rare to see farmers as a profession or protagonist, instead using archetypes inspired by older gods of death. Darksiders 2's protagonist is the true Bone Rider, Death. The first DarksidersHis dark brother, War, occasionally borrowed a scythe in battle.
Not to be outdone, Death wields both hands. His most prized weapon is “The Harvester”, which he can summon with just a thought. The Harvester can shapeshift into whatever its master requires, including a sinewy, serrated blade of shadow or a wide arc of energy. Death also has the ability to shapeshift into “Grim Reaper” form to more quickly process his corpse crop.
