summation
-
Shotguns and sniper rifles can be great weapons for getting high ammo from zombies, and some shine much brighter than their competitors.
-
The M10 Breacher tops our Shotgun list with excellent damage, handling, and Pack-a-Punch scaling.
-
Snipers are more dangerous to use but are equally as lethal, and while the Shadow SK is an excellent semi-auto option that gets the job done, the XR-3 ION falls short in almost every way.
Zombies mode is off to a rocky start in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. It offers plenty of secrets to keep track of, including leveling up your weapons, equipping them with attachments, and making them even deadlier with Pack-a-Punches. We know that assault rifles are always a surefire way to maximize your chances of survival, but shotguns and sniper rifles can be a little trickier to decide on, as they often require you to be at a certain range to get the most out of them.
Shotguns are generally safer than sniper rifles in CoD Zombies, but they require you to get up close and personal with the undead, especially as things get more and more intense as you reach higher rounds. Nonetheless, both have strengths and weaknesses, and depending on the situation, they can literally be the cause of your survival or death!

Oh, and the XR-3 ION is a very strange weapon that does virtually everything wrong regarding what you need it to be in zombie mode. It has the worst mobility and handling of any sniper rifle in the game. Additionally, it is a 3-shot burst sniper rifle. This means that you must remain still when firing, allowing all three bullets to connect with the target for maximum damage.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 – Best SMGs to Use in Zombies, Ranked
Here are the best SMGs to use in Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7!
And if that wasn't enough, there will be a slight delay between pulling the trigger and the weapon actually firing, which feels incredibly unpleasant and makes the gun feel clunky. Poor mobility is a zombie tragedy, but having a built-in delay between shots is a big no-no. The XR-3 ION has the potential to deal massive damage, but it's not worth it if everything else is actively plotting your downfall!
VS Recon

Then there's another sniper rifle, this time the VS Scout Rifle, a very sturdy bolt-action sniper rifle with a relatively fast reload. Still, having to pull back the bolt and load another bullet after each shot doesn't strike me as ideal for dealing with endless hordes of zombies, and places this excellent sniper rifle at the bottom of the list.
Running VS Recon won't cause immediate doom, but even with Pack-a-Punched, you'll definitely feel your weaknesses starting to poke in further, as the damage doesn't scale very well. It could get a lot better with attachments and perks, but it still pales in comparison to most other weapons on this list, which is unfortunate to see!
echo 12

Next up is the mighty Echo 12. Echo 12 can fire two powerful, high-damage shots in quick succession, turning zombies into a fine mist. However, while it has massive damage potential, its maneuverability and handling are subpar at best, greatly limiting its potential. If what you're looking for is pure damage, Pack-a-Punching can be fun to use, but I still don't like it in higher rounds.
Using attachments focused on correcting poor mobility would likely rank the Echo 12 higher. Still, achieving these results may require sacrificing superior accuracy or range, which takes away from what made it so powerful in the first place. In the end, there are better options and the Echo 12 is still pretty solid, but the moment you get a better option from the Mystery Box or off the wall, you should replace it!
Shadow SK

Starting off the top three is the Shadow SK, the only sniper rifle left on this list. This is more than worthy of this position. Not only does it deal significant damage, but since it is a semi-automatic weapon, it can fire multiple shots without reburn like the VS Recon. The rate of fire may still be a bit slower, but it's much better to handle than other options.
This sniper rifle has very reliable recoil, fantastic mobility and handling, and can be an almost essential quickscope icon if you plan to use it on zombies. And it was all done before Pack-a-Punch. This makes it much more lethal as it scales very well and maintains powerful damage even at higher rounds!
akita

At the top of the list is the powerful and compact Akita full-auto shotgun, which focuses on mobility and handling over everything else, making it an interesting choice for zombies. It's virtually useless at close range, but if you're confident enough to get up close and personal, the Akita will tear through large hordes of zombies.
It's a dream to freely explore the map with fast movement, and you'll never get tired of being able to blast away zombies that pop out at a moment's notice. And with attachments to further enhance movement and mobility, the Akita, Pack-a-Punched, will take you very far, allowing you to advance to higher rounds without breaking a sweat. These are the rules!
M10 Breacher

Lastly, there's the M10 Breacher, which may seem like a safe choice, but it's too good not to give it a top spot. It dominates close and mid-range combat while also having the highest base damage for shotguns, so it can easily rise to the top. Did we mention that it has superb mobility and handling along with rock-solid accuracy? Well, yes. It will be better if you add attachments.
Plus, once you finally get to the M10 Breacher Pack-a-Punch, your damage output expands tremendously, allowing you to rely on it even in very high rounds. This shotgun delivers the goods and has everything you want in zombie mode. You can maintain your agility while dealing fantastic damage and have zombie body parts hurtling through the air as you blast away hordes of zombies with ease!
