14 years later, Call of Duty fans are still obsessed with Nuketown.
Let's celebrate its history as the iconic map returns in Black Ops 6.
There's little room to add anything else, so imagine our surprise when one player somehow spawns a giant jumbo jet in the middle of a map battle.
Nuketown's Mysterious Spawn Plane
In a short video posted to Reddit, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 player Anomli gets hooked on Nuketown's popular Domination Mode game.
Anomli approaches the center of the map, takes out a grenade and throws it, but once the explosive is thrown, a huge plane is created in its path. Many comments were quick to point out that it's just like the one in Pokemon, except instead of creatures it's a plane and instead of a Pokéball it's a grenade.
When the plane appears, one of Anomli's teammates can be seen looking confused, further adding to the clip's comedic gold.
While this situation has baffled many on Reddit, user TabbedScamper shared a theory as to why this happened. “For things to render properly in 3D space, they need to be as close to 0,0,0(X,Y,Z) as possible. You can look at this as an example from Minecraft Far Lands. The plane that needs to be called at any point that someone acquires is I'm assuming it's always set to no visibility and stored somewhere on the map, so I think the center point of the plane is at 0,0,0 on the map, and I've also seen where all of the Nuketown maps are displayed outside of this map. Due to the game calling null at a time It immediately became 'invisible'.”
No matter what happened, it was a moment those players will never forget.
