You'd think the internet would rejoice when another cat game comes out, but Catly's reveal trailer at The Game Awards was criticized because it looked like everything was made using AI. In fact, some have gone so far as to say that the game is completely fake and a scam that will never be officially released.

Black Ops 6 with generative AI has no excuses
Necroclaus is just one example of Activision Blizzard cutting corners with this technology.
An MMO based entirely on the love of cats might sound too good to be true, but there's little evidence to prove that it's actually made with AI. Developer SuperAuthenti has also been linked to blockchain technology and NFTs, further fueling the hate for the game. But now the developer has come out and denied all these accusations.
SuperAuthenti rejects claims that it uses AI, blockchain or NFT technology.
As spotted by Eurogamer, developer Catly shared a statement with IGN and the game's developers, claiming that all the accusations are untrue, and even provided in-development footage and work-in-progress material suggesting that the game is indeed real and that the game doesn't actually exist. . AI technology was used. The statement also denied claims that the game includes blockchain or Web3 technologies.
“We have not used generative AI to create our videos and games,” a SuperAuthenti spokesperson said. “Actually, we were very surprised by that speculation. We don’t think there are any existing AI tools that can produce such videos. Industry experts agree with this opinion.” They revealed that Catly was created with Unreal Engine 5 and that various software was used to make the fur look surreal.
In response to the blockchain and NFT criticism, a spokesperson said, “Catly is not a blockchain game. There are no NFTs. Our company/project has never issued blockchain currency or NFTs. Our company does not own or own any blockchain currency. There are no enemies and NFTs.”
Questions were also raised about the reviews on Catly's Steam page. But when Hearthstone game director Ben Brode was asked about supporting the AI creation project, he said he had watched 20 minutes of footage and “it looked realistic enough to me. The cat looked fierce.”
