You are a certain age you can remember the console war very different from what we are used to these days. In the 90's, it is not sega and nintendo that compete with each other in the same market, not the Xbox and PlayStation Beoking, but SNES and Sega Genesis. In fact, the phrase 'Sega does not do nintendon' is often mentioned today.
Of course, since SEGA came out of the console market, the discord has almost died and has been replaced by the current console discord between PlayStation and Xbox. However, whenever SEGA can do, we will not take JAB from old rivals, and with Sonic Racing, we decided to do a cheeky swipe with Crossworlds and Mario Kart World through two competitions in the Kart Racer genre.
Sonic Racing: Crossworlds advertisements make fun of Mario Kart World.
In the latest advertising of Sonic Racing: Crossworld (can be seen above), Sega shows a blurry screen that covers the very vague Mario Kart-Esque game play while starting work through reference to “That Kart Racing Game”. The announcer says it is “great” and then begins to stop the manager. Until now, it's a fun little recognition for the main competitors of the game, but it's not too criticized.
Until the announcer lists all the wonderful things that can only be opened to the camera that can be switched back to the same pixeled TV with an ambiguous Mario cart video. This time, it is tied to the back of a struck RV, and the announcer is somewhat ignored if it is “walking on an open road.” It's a trivial B that I can truly fall behind.
Unfortunately, Sega must be taken with Sonic Racing to start talking about SMACK about one of the most symbolic KART RACERS. Crossworlds. Thankfully, it seems to be a pretty good time if the preview and impression of the game beta must pass. Even though we all know that Crash Bandicoot is Kart Racing King, I'm not sure why we are arguing about SONIC and Mario.
