In fact, even after the battle with Jinbe, which many claimed was a draw, Ace continued to fight Whitebeard in the ring of fire, holding his ground until he eventually fainted.

As he continued training with Whitebeard, Ace's Devil Fruit abilities and Haki powers improved dramatically. He became one of the most powerful warriors, and it can be safely said that his bounty of 550 million Berries never did him justice. Ace was clearly in the same league as the Billion Berry Pirates, and this was reflected well in Paramount Wars, where he clashed with the Marine Corps' Kuzan and held his own incredibly well. Even before that, Ace faced Yamato in Wano, and Yamato held up incredibly well despite his proficient use of all three types of Haki, including the Conqueror's Haki Infusion. This battle also ended in a draw, once again proving that Ace possesses an incredibly high level of power.

Sure, Ace got burned in his battle with Akainu, but that's always going to happen, and he ended up sacrificing his life for Luffy. Ace's strengths have always been underestimated, which is unfortunately due to the fact that fans haven't seen much of his journey until recently.
