Description of the Affluent Residents of Star Rail

event Honkai: Star Rail 2.4 and 2.5 saw Bodhisattva secretly invade Xianzhou Luofu and rescue warhead Hoolay from his shackled prison. The story primarily focuses on the conflict between the Bodhisind people and their relatives, the Foxians. But it also covers the centuries-long war between the Xianzhou Alliance and Borisin's main faction, The Denizens of Abundance.

The Denizens of Opulence are made up of long-lived species that follow Aeon Yaoshi, including:

  • Barley God: This canine humanoid species shares a common ancestor with the Foxians, and both once lived on the planet Verdantia. Yaoshi created a red spring in Verdancia, and it is said that those who drank from the red spring gained immortality. This blessing also causes a population boom within it and leads to its collapse. The survivors fled the planet, and the Bodhisattva eventually gained notoriety for conquering other civilizations with their brute strength and vast knowledge of biotechnology.
  • Wing Weaver: These are a feathered species that lived on Muldrasil. they were enemies Honkai: Star RailXianzhou was before the latter gained immortality. They massacred many Alliance natives.
  • Hehe: This centaur-like species has four hind legs and two arms. They have allied themselves with the Bodhi God and have recently become slaves to the Antimatter Legion.
  • Heliobi: These are formless species of pure energy. Their origins are unknown, and although Xianzhou classifies them as Denizens of Abundance, their factional affiliation is unclear. They have been enemies of the Alliance since time immemorial, as they often attempt to possess and exfiltrate human bodies.

Conflict between Bountiful Dwellers and Xianzhou Alliance

The Denizens' devotion to their ways makes them nemeses of Xianzhou, whose purpose is to eradicate the “plague of abundance.” To understand this conflict, one must know the history of the Alliance, which was previously a devout follower of the Path of Abundance.

The history and wealth of Xianzhou

Hundreds of years ago, the Xianzhou Alliance sought the medicine of immortality from Yaoshi and received it through the Ambrosial Arbor planted in Luofu by Aeon. But they discover that the longevity they sought and now enjoy is a curse, as Xianzhou's oldest citizen ends up becoming “Mara-Struck”. This condition causes long-lived individuals to slowly lose their sanity, undergo painful physical growths, and become irreversibly hostile beings.

Immortality also caused massive population growth within Xianzhou, which was poorly managed and led to civil war. The fleet was also attacked by outsiders seeking immortality. Tired of bloodshed and civil unrest, Reignbow Arbiter Lan became one of the Alliance's fiercest heroes and rose up against the Abundance's rule over Xianzhou.

Residents of the Bountiful War

Not everyone supported Lan's objection. However, the Alliance soon called for help as the Wingweavers began advancing towards the Xianzhou fleet. To harness their power, the heroes made a deal with Heliobi, Emperor of Flint, who was imprisoned in a prison of shackles. Together they fired arrows, destroying Ambrosial Arbor and the invading Wingweaver army once and for all. The power of this attack was so strong that it damaged every ship in the Xianzhou fleet. Lan and Emperor Flint later ascended to godhood and became the Aeon of The Hunt.

After the events of the First Denizens of Abundance War, the Alliance swore fealty to Lan. Their mission to destroy the Denizens of Opulence led to two further conflicts. The latest incident left hundreds of thousands of Xianzhou pilots dead. It's been almost 30 years since the Third War, and it looks like Bodhi God's invasion could trigger the next war.
