Helldiver 2 Crossover Event Doesn't Add New Enemies

Helldivers 2 creative director Johan Pilestedt has long made it clear that he and the rest of the team are open to crossovers within reason. He has previously said that any collaboration must respect the story of Helldivers 2 and that he does not want the game to turn into “Kingdom Hearts or Fortnite.”

Now, another limitation applies to these crossovers. This means you can't change enemies or introduce new ones. Or at least nothing like this is currently planned, as Pilestedt believes it's important to keep this part of the game consistent.

The Helldivers 2 crossover probably won't make any changes to the enemies.

Game directors want to keep us focused on the task at hand.

This came after Twitter user @Folken86448332 asked Pilestedt if future crossovers would add enemies from other series.

“No, the enemy must remain where he is,” he answered. “Or, I guess we could do a timed event at some point, but I can’t focus on that. [sic]”.

Considering my previous comments about crossovers and collaborations, this isn't all that surprising. Arrowhead wants Helldivers 2 to maintain its own identity, and part of that is uniting humanity against the Terminids, Automatrons, and Illuminates.

Last month there was a crossover with Killzone. This was controversial at launch due to its pricing, so a second wave of Killzone content was made available for free. As we enter 2025, we'll have to wait and see what happens next.
