Hunter × Hunter 405 is just as impressive as the previous chapter. in heightxheight In 405, the story moves away from the plot about the Kakin Princes and Kurapika and instead expands back into the story of the Mafia War and the Phantom Troupe.

This chapter sees the return of fan-favorite character Hisoka, and his involvement in this arc grows. The setup for what’s to come is huge.

The real Hisoka is back

The Hisoka we saw before was Bonolenov.

Hunter × Hunter 405 opens with a poker game and marks the long-awaited return of character Hisoka. previously heightxheightFans saw what they believed to be Hisoka, discovered by members of Xi-Yu Zakuro and Lynch. But that Hisoka was fake. In other words, this is the first time Hisoka has appeared in a very long time.

This chapter contains Hisoka's thoughts. It is revealed that Hisoka had no interest in fighting the Chimera Ants despite his insane strength. He also had no interest in Halkenburg's abilities. Because I knew it was a group ability and not an ability to fight 1v1. Hisoka also revealed that he has no interest in fighting groups or Inhumans, no matter how powerful they are. Hisoka wants to destroy his enemies one on one.

Immediately after that, fans got to see another Hisoka following the first Hisoka. This is not actually the real Hisoka, but Bonolenov, an underrated member of the Spiders who disguised himself as himself using his Nen ability, Transformation, on Chrollo's orders. Metamorphose works by allowing Bonolenov to transform into anyone he speaks with, and he can maintain this form while confronting that person. Bonolenov also believes that transformations can be done for shorter periods of time for people who are shorter than him.

Chrollo gave Bonolenov this dangerous mission to give the mafia family the impression that he had kept the Black Whale in balance. If they thought the mafia family was watching Hisoka, there would be no problem with the ghost group wandering around. This was seen in the previous chapter when Xi-Yu took the fake Hisoka. But something didn't go as planned. Lynch, a woman with Nen powers that force him to punch and make him answer honestly when asked questions, asked Bonolenov if he was Hisoka, and he answered no. This led Bonolenov to kill her because she knew too much. However, he kept Zakuro alive out of necessity.

In the present, Bonolenov has changed his disguise from Hisoka to one that looks like an owl, one of the Shadow Beasts seen in the Yorknew arc at the time.

Chrollo's hunt to find powerful Nen abilities

This Nen ability will kill Hisoka forever

In Hunter x Hunter 405, Bonolenov seemed interested in Chrollo's mental state after the deaths of Shalnark and Kortopi. Chrollo asked him to transform into Hisoka, transform into someone else to find Hisoka, and most importantly, not fight him. Bonolenov was unwilling to fight Hisoka because he would be at a huge disadvantage anyway.

However, Bonolenov revealed that he did not bring this up during the meeting because Chrollo wanted to deal with Hisoka alone. Bonolenov prefers Nobunaga and his group to deal with Hisoka due to Chrollo's condition.

It turns out that Chrollo is actually looking for something in this Black Whale that will give him the power to kill Hisoka for good. The treasure in question clearly refers to a Nen ability that you might want to steal as a Skill Hunter. However, while it is unclear what that ability is, it is not impossible that Togashi has already demonstrated it somehow. Whatever ability Chrollo is after, using it on Hisoka will likely be the end of him. This could mean the end of the Phantom Troupe.

This chapter also shows Chrollo walking alone. An ad was aired on the news commemorating the 10th anniversary of the brutal murder of a man known as Mr Lisnos. This man was posing as the president of an organization that helps underprivileged children. But what he actually did was much darker. He was one of the men involved in the brutal murder of Sarsa, a young girl from Meteor City that led to the creation of the Phantom Troupe.

This man was apparently killed in Spider-Man's revenge 10 years ago. Chrollo thinks this is a good guy and how conscientious people are who believe everything the media says about him.

Phantom Troupe and Hayley

in heightxheight 404, the final panel featured Nobunaga with his group, which included Feitan and Phinks. They had aborted their plan to head directly to Haley's hideout and instead wanted to go and ask some questions of other mob families. in heightxheight 405, fans see them do just that. Nobunaga meets Keni Wang and Tajao, the deputy boss and deputy boss of the Chaal family. Nobunaga asks them about Heil-Ly's leader and how they function as a group. Heil-Ly was recently taken over by a new leader, Morena, following the death of the previous leader. Wang admits that unlike the other two mafia families, he does not know Morena well enough to know her true intentions while everything is happening, as Heil-Ly kills many innocent civilians.

Nobunaga and his group realize that Heil-Ly wants to destroy everyone on this ship and basically everything, including Kakin itself. They also concluded that killing people gives them more power.

As the chapter ends, Tajao leads Nobunaga's group to a previously sealed door. A door they said they could use if they truly worked together. These gates are passageways between different classes of humpback whales.
