Leaked PS5 icons and symbols may indicate new features in the works
All rumors about the PS5's potential features should be taken with a grain of salt, but a new leak may reveal some of Sony's plans. According to Twitter user Amethxst, new icons and symbols may be added to PS5 consoles and various PSN websites. This includes a “PS5/PC” icon that can be used to indicate Sony-supported games available on both platforms. Lost souls are separate. Additionally, a Cross-Buy icon has been spotted, but its purpose is unclear as of this writing. Game Rant corroborated Amethxst's claims with a screenshot taken from a PS5 at 8:30 PM ET on November 4th.
Considering that Sony's rival Microsoft offers a cross-buy option for PC and console games through its Xbox Play Anywhere program, the leaked “Cross-Buy” icon could indicate that Sony may be considering a similar offer. Other leaked icons include a green and gray symbol with a charging indicator in the center, as well as unused icons for the game that support cloud save backups and DualSense touchpad controls. The leaked icon is noticeably absent on PS4 but can be seen on PS5.
In response to other users' questions about the legitimacy of the leaked icon, Amethxst shared a video as proof that the icon exists. Amethxst's PSN profile information box displayed each of the leaked PS5 icons along with a brief description. Amethxst says the icon was added between March and November 2025, suggesting it was a recent addition.
With the PS5 remaining strong, with over 80 million units sold, support for the console is expected to continue in the future. There's no word yet on which of the leaked PS5 icons will come to fruition.
