Excitement for Monster Hunter Wilds has been building this week thanks to the game's showcase on Wednesday, which included a new trailer and more information about the next game in the series. Following that showcase, Capcom revealed a special edition Monster Hunter Wilds DualSense and matching PS5 console cover that will be released alongside the game, but as far as we know, only Japanese Monster Hunter fans will have the opportunity to own one.
Our first look at the Monster Hunter controller and cover was revealed via a post on the Japanese PlayStation blog. The DualSense is similar to the Volcanic Red option available globally, but with Monster Hunter Wilds markings printed in silver around the border and on the touchpad. The price of the controller is 12,480 yen (about $82), which is similar to the price of the special edition PS5 controller in the United States.

Monster Hunter Wilds Pre-Order Guide: Bonuses, Editions and Release Date
All three editions of Monster Hunter Wilds are available for pre-order.
They said the cover and the DualSense match, but that's not technically true. Although they were released together and feature the same symbols, the covers are slightly different as they are not the same shade of red as the Monster Hunter DualSense. It's not actually red at all. PlayStation's Monster Hunter Wilds PS5 cover is entirely black, save for the aforementioned symbols and patterns that can be seen in some corners. The cover is slightly cheaper at 9,980 yen, so about $66.
Monster Hunter Wilds will be the next game to get its own PS5 accessory
I'm sure there's a way to get it shipped from Japan.
Unfortunately, the blog post doesn't mention when the Monster Hunter Wilds accessories will be released outside of Japan. It most likely won't happen at all, and it won't be the first time it's happened. Final Fantasy 16 DualSense has not yet been released outside of Japan. Monster Hunter Wilds will be a hit around the world, but there's no doubt it will be a bigger hit in Japan than anywhere else. Perhaps PlayStation and Capcom don't have enough faith in the series' global popularity to release the controllers and covers elsewhere.
Monster Hunter Wilds is set to release on PS5, Xbox Series It continues. Now, not only does the game have its own DualSense and PS5 covers, but the open beta announced this week, starting on October 28, 2024, will be available exclusively to PS Plus subscribers for the first three days.
