New details about the rumored Resident Evil 0 remake have been shared online.

If there's anything more exciting than getting a new Resident Evil game in the form of Resident Evil Requiem, it's the prospect of getting more RE remakes in the same way as RE 2, 3, and 4.

It's been rumored for a while that Code Veronica and Zero would be the next games to get the “remake” treatment, but now a new report from MP1st gives us more details on the status of Zero, including where it is in the development pipeline.

Hint: things are going full circle.

Resident Evil Zero may have a very familiar actor.

MP1st's report states that the Zero remake project has been in the works for several years, codenamed “Chamber”, a cheeky nod to protagonist Rebecca's castle.

Performance capture and voice work is said to begin in 2024, and what's more, it looks like Jon McLaren, who was Star-Lord in the vastly underrated Guardians of the Galaxy video game, will take on the role. The resume shared by MP1st says McLaren has “Project Chamber” listed.

Once the game is released, the lore will be expanded, with sections at the beginning of the game being further fleshed out to give the remake a “more cinematic structure.” I won't spoil that section, but check out the MP1st part to see how things are expanding.

Lastly, it looks like we won't be seeing Zero for quite some time. Requiem is targeted for release early next year, Code Veronica is said to be released in 2027, and Zero gives a window for 2028, which is pretty far out. Technically speaking, you should have been playing Zero by now, but previous reports suggested the 2024 reboot would have a big impact on things.

Still, we'll tolerate a delay if it means a better, more complete experience in the end.
