EA has been adding event cards to HUT since launch, and popular events are returning. These events include Fantasy events that follow players and real-world statistics from the National Hockey League and Professional Women's Hockey League, and Next-Gen events that highlight rookies and young players in the game. OVR numbers are influenced by Calder Trophy ranking.

However, if players want to get started with Hockey Ultimate Team, they will need to play the game and get some of the base cards to start their HUT career. Ways to obtain these cards include opening booster packs in the store, competing in HUT Moments, or purchasing cards from the Auction House. Some players in the auction house, even basic players, can earn quite a bit of credits.

Desbiens is a great option for players looking to break into Hockey Ultimate Team. She has a great stat pool, with balanced numbers in the key stats of a goalkeeper: speed, agility, and positioning. Another key benchmark for goalkeeper success, especially in HUT Champs matches with PvP game modes, is height.

Desbiens isn't the tallest, but his base card has stats that can compete with most other base cards. Some alternatives include Aerin Frankel, Klara Peslarova, and Abbey Levy.

• Position: Goaltender

Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets is a monster in net. His speed, agility, and positioning aren't the best overall, but he makes up for it with his height and defensive boost synergy. He was the primary goaltender when players began their HUT journey, and as a result his average price on the auction house was significantly inflated.

Now some events NHL 25 As they come and go, players have likely moved on to better, higher OVR goalie cards in the game. Connor Hellebuyck also has the event Gamebreakers card which gives him slightly improved stats with 85 OVR. Some replacements include Jake Oettinger, Igor Shesterkin, and Sergei Bobrovsky.

With the addition of PWHL cards, they have shaken up the status quo on the best base cards and best strategies. NHL 25. Her defensive stats are all in the 90s, which pairs well with her checking and skating abilities. When Two-Way Defenseman's synergy is activated, your hands, skating, and defense will be slightly higher to compete with other cards.

Her shooting is borderline average in the offensive zone, so players shouldn't expect to score from the blue line often with Buchbinder. Some replacement cards include Cayla Barnes, Charlie McAvoy, and Drew Doughty.

Cale Makar was our previous cover athlete. NHL 24 The game is a great card. His skating, shooting, and hand skills are all top-notch for a defender. His shooting stats are complemented by offensive defender synergy, increasing both Makar's accuracy and power on wrist shots and slap shots to lethal levels.

Makar also has some event cards such as Star of the Month 87 OVR Makar and Cover Athlete 85 OVR Makar cards. Alternate cards include Adam Fox and Erin Ambrose.

As the Minnesota Frost became their first Walter Cup champions, they added a lot of better players. NHL 25 List so far. Coyne has a solid shot, good Hands stats, and great endurance. She can score goals for the player's HUT team through her two-way forward synergy, providing a slight boost to her offensive stats as well as her defensive stats.

Unfortunately, her short stature allows her to be easily body-checked on the puck, but her skating and defensive ability allow her to backcheck effectively. Some replacement cards include Brad Marchand and Emma Maltais.

5 83 OVR Kirill Kaprizov

• Position: left wing

Kirill Kaprizov is the leading scorer in every HUT lineup. His shooting accuracy and power are already excellent, but when the Sniper Forward synergy is activated, he has one of the highest shooting stats of any base card in the game. However, the downside to having one of the deadliest shots is that Kaprizov's checks and defenses are subpar at best.

He is also short, which means bigger skaters can often trip him. Kaprizov also has a Next Gen 87 OVR event card. Some alternate base cards include Filip Forsberg and Alex Ovechkin.

4 84 OVR Hillary Knight

• Synergy: Power Forward
• Position: Right wing

Hilary Knight's base card is a very good option for right-wingers. She has well-rounded stats with excellent Endurance, Hands, and Checks before adding the Power Forward synergy into the mix. Overall, Power Forward Synergy is one of the weaker options, adding only 1-2 points to each stat affected.

Nonetheless, she is a competitive card for the base HUT card set that can be found cheaper on the auction house than other options in this OVR. Alternate cards include Natalie Spooner and Grace Zumwinkle.

3 84 OVR David Pastrnak

• Height/Weight: 6'0″/196 lbs
• Synergy: Sniper Forward
• Position: Right wing

Pastrnak's basic card is the best option for right-wingers with the Sniper Forward synergy active. This boosts his shooting accuracy into the low 90s, making him the best pure RW sniper in the game. Pastrnak is also not a complete liability on defense and his defensive statistics are mediocre at best. However, since he is not the tallest or heaviest, Pastrnak can counter with a big checking body.

Pastrnak has an Off the Charts upgradeable card and finishes with an 86 OVR. Other great right-wingers include Nikita Kucherov and Mitchell Marner.

2 85 OVR Hanna Vilka

• Synergy: Two-Way Forward
• Location: Center

in NHL 25 In Hockey Ultimate Team, most of the forward cards in the game are centers. They are responsible for making duels for their team to get the puck first. Bilka's faceoff stats are 79 with Two-Way Forward Synergy enabled, which is decent for faceoffs.

Despite her matchups, Bilka has nice, balanced stats that can back her up as a primary or secondary center for budding HUT players. Some alternatives include Brianne Jenner and Marie-Philip Poulin.

• Synergy: Playmaking Forward
• Location: Center

When it comes to base cards, Connor McDavid stands alone as the most sought-after base card in Hockey Ultimate Team. The synergy of Playmaking Forward only complements his outrageous skating and hand stats. He can easily go end-to-end, going through most of the player cards in the game without breaking a sweat. However, his faceoff stats are average.

Due to these top location statistics, his price on the auction house is very high. McDavid also has three event cards: 89 OVR Frozen Forces, 87 OVR Milestones, and a Season 1 X-Factor card that can be upgraded up to 89 OVR.
