One Piece crew members who only call the captain by name

Key Takeaways

  • There are many crews in One Piece's world of pirate adventures, some made up of many, some with only a few prominent characters.
  • In particular, some of the crew members have very prominent key figures as captains, but there is a lack of exploration beyond that.
  • The Drake Pirates are a good example of a crew that could be fleshed out further in the future.

The pirate crew one piece Due to the nature of the series, this is one of the most notable groups. Even if you don't do an exhaustive examination of the entire crew, there are usually at least a few members who are identified outside of the captain to get a closer look at the crew.

But that isn't always the case. The series has a small number of crew members, naming only one crew member and otherwise tending to focus on individual members of each crew member. For this list, we'll be looking at some of the mostly unknown and unnamed crew members. In this respect, the captain is usually the only exception. Often, when crew members are not identified, this is because the captain's importance is already limited.

6 on air pirates

Captain: Scratchman Apu

Scratchmen Apoo and his companions literally run through the air.

  • debut: Episode 498 (cartoon), Episode 392 (animation)
  • major ships: Please stay tuned.

This crew member is one of ten members of the Worst Generation to qualify as a captain, which suggests a certain level of prestige as a crew member. They appear to have originated from the Grand Line, and many of them wear clothing similar to that worn historically by the Manchus. Their captain is Scratchmen Apoo, who has the distinction of being the only general in the Worst Generation. Like their fellow Worst Generation crew members, the On Air Pirates eventually found themselves at the mercy of the Emperor, namely Kaido of the Beasts Pirates.

As a result, they joined his crew, and eventually formed a pseudo-alliance with his fellow worst crew members, namely the Kid Pirates and the Hawkins Pirates, adding the final crew members to the Beast Pirates. Apoo himself is shown to have no real loyalty to the Beasts Pirates, sticking with his crew primarily out of fear, and showing little real loyalty to them.

5 Brownbeard Pirates

Captain: Chadros “Brownbeard” Higelyges

Brownbeard and two companions look down on their enemy, Basil Hawkins, who will almost prove to be their ruin.

  • debut: Episode 581 (cartoon), Episode 490 (animation)
  • major ships: Charles Martel

The crew was first made known to viewers shortly after the Summit War, when Whitebeard's death led Brownbeard to claim Foodvalten, a territory previously protected by Whitebeard, as his own. However, they were severely beaten by Basil Hawkins, captain of the Hawkins Pirates and one of the twelve pirates known as the Worst Generation.

After heading to Punk Hazard, Trafalgar D. Water Law used his powers to save their lives and transform them into centaurs. The crew subsequently acted as Caesar Clown's subordinates, earning him and Law great respect. However, Brownbeard eventually realized that Caesar was using it. Unfortunately, the crew, except Brownbeard, were exposed to Shinokuni, a potentially lethal petrifying gas. However, after Caesar Clown is defeated, Smoker allows Brownbeard to rescue his crew before they are killed, as long as they accept capture.

4 Corrupted Monk Pirates

Captain: Uruge

Uruge and his three companions are all members of the Corruption Pirates.

  • debut: Episode 498 (cartoon), Episode 392 (animation)
  • major ships: Hanjomaru

This Worst Generation crew is from the Sky Island, but it's unclear exactly which island they come from. True to their name, Fallen Monk pirates tend to wear robes reminiscent of those devoted to their religion. One unidentified member even had a haircut associated with monks shaving the hair on top of their heads. Their captain is the 'Mad Monk' Urouge, a mysterious being of whom little is known about him other than his currently unnamed Devil Fruit powers and his ever-present smile.

Despite the nickname of Urouge and his crew, it suggests a departure from orthodoxy. They seem to be at least somewhat religiously inclined, as Urouge witnessed Kaido attempt suicide and prayed for him. They were able to beat the Emperor's top brass as Big Mom Pirates' Charlotte Snack was demoted from Sweet Commander rank due to her loss to Urouge. However, he was defeated by Cracker, another Sweet Commander, and had no choice but to retreat.

It's unclear if the crew will develop further beyond their current level, but at least we can assume they will develop further within the story, as Urouge is now the only Worst Generation member who hasn't crossed paths with Luffy.

3 space pirate

Captain: Simas

6 animal-like aliens, all space pirates

  • debut: Episode 438 (comic, cover story)
  • major ships: unknown

The Space Pirates are an alien crew that resembles animals in appearance. Their known piracy tends to consist of digging up the moon. It only appears in the cover story. Enel's space missionActs as an effective antagonist. The Space Pirates previously caused an explosion on the moon, causing one Dr. Tsukimi to die from asphyxiation on impact. His creations, four automata, decided to travel to the moon for revenge, but were no match for the space pirates.

Enel resurrects Spacey, one of the four automata, and Spacey guides him to Seamars, a pirate captain who defeats him. Enel despises Seamars for desecrating the moon and easily defeats him using the Logia Devil Fruit, avoiding being hit by most of his attacks. Enel eventually attacks the entire crew more convincingly, effectively ending operations on the Moon. Using his newly discovered automata as his subordinates, Enel took over the Moon, the Fairy Bears of folk legend.

2 drake pirate

Captain:

X Drake and 5 unidentified crew members

  • debut: Episode 498 (cartoon), Episode 392 (animation)
  • major ships: Liberal Hind

X Drake, the son of a Marine-turned-pirate, defected from his father's crew to join the Marines. He was mentored by former fleet commander Sengoku and eventually rose to the rank of rear admiral. Despite this fact, he eventually returned to piracy and formed the Drake Pirates, becoming one of the worst sailors. His crew has a European aesthetic that tends to be similar to fencers in design.

Drake's piracy manifested itself when he attempted to attack one of Kaido's favorite territories in a successful effort to provoke Kaido. Since then, Drake has advanced up the Beasts Pirates' chain of command, earning the rank of Tobiroppo, the third highest rank among the crew. However, after the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance declared war on Kaido, Drake was eventually forced to defect from the Water Pirates due to charges of disloyalty.

In reality, it turns out that Drake is the captain of SWORD, a black ops unit for officially resigning marines to carry out covert operations on behalf of the world government. His choice to side with Luffy was partly due to his respect for Coby, who was also a member of SWORD. It is unclear how he will reconcile his schemes as a pirate with his crew's presence. It's possible that they are also SWORD members, but since this is not explicitly stated, it is equally possible that they do not know the truth. Drake was most recently seen recovering in a Marine hospital, further fueling the debate over whether he can continue to play the Pirate.

1 heaviest crew member

Captain: Various

(left to right, top to bottom) Little Oars Jr., AO, Whitey Bay, Peachbeard, Squad, Pururu, Fugar and Gerotini, all subordinate captains serving as the only officially named crew members for the time being.

  • debut: It varies depending on the character, and was introduced conceptually around episodes 551 (manga) and 460 (animation).
  • major ships: Depends on the character

Subordinate crew members are people who serve under other crew members. They are usually utilized by emperors to further consolidate their power and influence. Members are not technically part of the crew they serve and maintain their own chain of command. However, their exact relationship to the crew they serve varies depending on the crew they serve.

The junior crew was revealed in-depth for the first time at Marineford, and many Whitebeards took part in the Summit War. In addition to Whitebeard's many division commanders and colleagues, many of his subordinate crew members also go to the field. Whitebeard's subordinate captains include Little Oars Jr., Whitey Bay, AO, and Squad. A few subordinate captains are confirmed to have been members of the Whitebeard Pirates before forming their own crews.

The Peachbeard Pirates are known as the only lower-ranking crew members of the Blackbeard Pirates. They were shown to be strong enough to defeat the Marine Corps stationed in the Kingdom of Lulucia, but were eventually defeated by four Revolutionary Army officers. It is stated that Blackbeard does not care for his crew of men.

The Red Hair Pirates are known for having weak subordinates. Such examples include the Bourgeois Pirates (led by Pururu), the Social Club (led by Fugue), and the Puddle Pirates (led by Gerotini). It's possible that Shanks, like Whitebeard, will try to use his fame to protect them. With his territory. But for now this is purely speculation.

It is important to note that not all junior crew members fall into this category. The Sun Pirates and Fire Tank Pirates have several named members because they are more relevant to the story, despite having previously served under Big Mom. Additionally, all seven members of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet's crew have multiple named members for the same reason.
