According to Keller, this return came about because the best-of-five format “didn't quite feel right.” These two additional potential rounds help give the game more wiggle room for adaptive strategies and big comebacks, making the game feel less one-sided even as it goes on longer. Fans can expect to learn more about the reasoning behind this decision in the next Director's Take blog in early November.
While some players preferred the five-round format, the majority of fans seem happy to see the following changes coming, especially: overwatch 2 Stadium gadgets are now in the mix. Luckily, those who want to play best-of-five Stadium can still do so through Unranked Quick Play, which also includes fill and cross-play between all platforms.
