Yasuke uses brute force and heavy weapons to overcome obstacles, while Naoe uses stealth and a variety of assassin tools. In a recent blog post, Ubisoft describes Naoe as “a true parkour master,” and this is clearly evidenced by the game's handful of new parkour abilities, many of which are exclusive to Naoe.
The ‘Parkour Down’ mechanic is back. Assassin's Creed Shadow Easier to use than ever before. Players can quickly descend a building by simply pressing the dodge button (currently assigned to “B/Circle” on the controller). However, if the player is at a non-lethal height, tapping the dodge button along with a directional command will see them perform a stylish front flip that lands them safely on the ground.
According to a recent blog post from Ubisoft, Naoe is also “the fastest assassin to date,” able to sprint significantly faster than any previous protagonist. Naoe also has the exclusive Sprint Dodge ability. While sprinting, players can press the dodge button to jump forward, dodge incoming ranged attacks, and jump over waist-high obstacles in Naoe's path. Naoe can also use his auto-jump function while sprinting to fluidly jump over obstacles even during combat, using a variety of acrobatic moves.
Naoe also has access to a new physics-based grappling hook that allows players to swing from anchor points and attach to high ledges. Naoe possesses more parkour abilities than any assassin before her, and the flexibility and finesse she displays in her acrobatic animations demonstrates how much mastery she has of her environment.
Yasuke can still do parkour, but he is slower and does not have access to all of Naoe's abilities, such as the Sprint Dodge mechanic.
Assassin's Creed Shadows combines Naoe's stealth and parkour mechanics.
But mastering parkour is only half the battle for the cunning shinobi. Naoe also has access to a variety of new stealth abilities, many of which tie in seamlessly with the protagonist's parkour mechanics.
Although traversing rooftops is often the best way to reach your goal, Assassin's Creed ShadowThe “Parkour Up” move now produces a sound that can attract enemies. Jumping off a rooftop and hitting the ground can also make a sound. The player can mitigate these noises by changing their stance while on the rooftop to crouch or prone, and by pressing the dodge button when hitting the ground after a jump, causing the player character Naoe to perform an Igan Recovery Roll.
Being able to directly control the amount of sound Naoe makes while parkouring means Assassin's Creed ShadowIt forces players to think like a stealthy shinobi, and in the process sets Naoe apart from previous series protagonists.
