Pokemon TCG Pocket is back in a 3-pack set for the Mega Evolution expansion.

Pokémon TCG Pocket turns one year old this month, and to celebrate, a new expansion highlighting Mega Evolution will be released. Now we have an official look at the upcoming expansion, confirming that the game will be offering three booster packs for the first time since the set was released.

If you're feeling down about the Deluxe Pack: ex expansion pack, don't worry. The confusing set that was supposed to give us a chance to fill a gap in our collection will be gone forever on October 30th. Perhaps Pocket's Mega Evolution expansion will mark the game's one-year anniversary.

Similar to the soft reveal of the deluxe pack, a first look at the Mega Evolution expansion was shared on one of Pocket's non-English sites (thanks UniteVids). The Japanese site shared what the pack will look like in-game, revealing that there will be three packs to choose from each time you open them. This is the first expansion pack to include three booster packs since Genetic Apex, a Kanto-focused set that accompanied the game's launch.

Although no cards have been shown yet, the Pokemon featured in the booster artwork not only tells us which Pokemon will be the focus of the upcoming set, but also which Pokemon will be crown rares. Crown Rares are gold cards and the rarest cards added to the game so far.

Charizard, Mew, and Pikachu were the stars of the Genetic Apex boosters, and each had a matching Crown Rare. If Pokémon follows this pattern for their Mega Evolution expansions, the Crown Rares we should be tracking will be Mega Gyarados, Mega Blaziken, and Mega Altaria.

Good luck! I've opened 877 packs so far and only have two Crown rare cards: Pikachu and Solgaleo.

The next expansion will consist of three sets of booster packs, which also means there will be a longer gap between one expansion and the next expansion than there usually is between new sets. Pokémon has been adding new booster packs at the end of each month, with the exception of Genetic Apex, which waited nearly two months before adding the Mythical Island booster pack.

My guess is that Pocket will continue to follow this pattern in Year 2, opening these three new packs until another booster is added to the mix a week or so before Christmas. Don't forget that there are some positive new updates coming as well, as Pocket's developers have confirmed plans to make rarer cards tradable and will add a sharing feature that will allow you to gift cards of your choice to friends.
