Pokemon TCG Pocket's January Premium Pass and Event Leaked

summation

  • The January Premium Pass includes the standard Moltres ex card, which lacks the uniqueness of previous promotions.
  • Despite the Moltres card, everything else in the January Premium Pass is Charizard-themed.
  • Pokemon TCG Pocket's January event lacks innovation and recycled events leave players disappointed.

Last month, sentiment began to build for the Premium Pass for the Pokémon trading card game Pocket. It was supposed to be “boring” with little reason to subscribe other than a few packs and promo cards.

December came and a new Mewtwo promo spiced things up a bit, but again didn't really move the dial as it didn't offer much more.

Mu, Mu, where are you?

Now that January's Pokemon TCG Pocket Premium Pass content has been datamined along with event details for that month, things seem to have gotten even worse.

January Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket Premium Pass Details

The first is the January Premium Pass for the Pokémon trading card game Pocket, shared on Reddit by ComboAnalyst user.

November and December's passes include some really unique takes on the Pikachu and Mewtwo cards, while January's pass is a slightly different version of the standard Moltres ex. Of course, the cards are competitive, but it may be a bit boring for those who use the app for card collection rather than battle.

The decision to include Moltres was not well received on Reddit. Tyketro said, “I think it's a little strange that the premium pass card doesn't have full illustration art. A bit of a downgrade from Pikachu and Mewtwo,” added SirBattleTuna. “You can see them trying to test which sells more. It’s either the promo play but you can’t see it but it looks cool, or your ex’s trial but you can see it play.”

The choice is made even more odd by the fact that two previous Premium Pass promotions featured featured Pokemon in Genetic Apex. There was an expectation that Charizard would now receive the same treatment that Pikachu and Mewtwo received.

And the mystery deepens because everything included, aside from the promo, is related to Charizard. Players who subscribe in January will receive a Charizard coin, wallpaper, playmat, sleeve, and display.

January Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket Event Leaked

Just like last month, Pokemon TCG Pocket's January event was leaked. Unfortunately, I think the disappointment will only increase.

Of course, limited deals will be added to the game, and the next set of booster packs will also be released. But the main event is once again a reenactment of events that have already occurred.

In January, there will be a 45-win emblem event, a 5-game win emblem event, a Blastoise solo battle event, two mass outbreaks, and one Chansey Pick event.

The game seems to have a lot of different events going on, and it feels like the developers need to change things up a bit to keep the game fresh.
