Stardew Valley has been around for so long that, like many other long-running games, fans are starting to take on self-imposed challenges to make things trickier. You can aim for 100% completion, or you can achieve all the achievements that even ConcernedApe creators have recently achieved, or you can start mass producing them on your farm, making both excellent and massive amounts of one very specific item.
One of the popular runs that players enjoy doing is the Hermit Challenge. This challenge will test your survival skills by not allowing you to set foot outside the farm. You can't visit the mines, buy seeds from Pierre, or go fishing. All you have is what the land provides, and while it's certainly challenging, it's not the most fun way to play.
Stardew Valley players have made millions without ever leaving the farm.
That didn't stop Reddit user _Littlestranger from living a reclusive life, as he recently amassed nearly 4 million gold by sharing his earnings as a reclusive farmer. They shared various screenshots and statistics from the farm on the Stardew Valley subreddit earlier this week, revealing that they've lived on the farm for a little less than six years in Stardew Valley time.
In their response to this Reddit post, they explain a little about how they made their fortune and how they lived as recluses for so long. First of all, they explained that they had chosen the Four Corners farm, which was quite convenient, with a small quarry and a forest area with special weeds that always dropped mixed seeds. Actually, I enjoyed playing Stardew Valley as a Joja supporter.
Let's be real. Joja isn't that bad. right?
It took them a whopping three years of in-game time and they admitted it was “really boring”, but things got better after they got the Seed Maker. They also reveal that they have a heart for absolutely no one and that the only people on their friendship tab are Robin, Louise, Clint, Marnie, Pierre, and Kent. Everyone is most likely to check out the strange farming hermit because they stopped by the house. Not dead.
Another little story they explain is that thanks to the lumberjack profession, they were able to get hard wood from regular trees, and since they couldn't upgrade their shovels, they couldn't actually remove the stumps from their farm, so they just left. The reason you can get so little gold from fish is because the cat fetches it.
Thankfully, _Littlestranger's life as a recluse is now over. Eventually they reached their gold and huge crop goals by the end of Year 6. It's nice to have a conversation with someone who tells you that despite all that hard work, you deserve a great fishing trip as a reward. Literally anyone, even Pierre.
Restore your grandfather's farm to its former glory in Stardew Valley, a charming indie simulation role-playing game developed by Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone. Along the way, you'll meet new friends, romance villagers, and explore deep caves to find the materials you need to craft, craft, and grow.
