decision, decision. It's good to have choices, but sometimes you don't need to limit yourself to just one. This could equally apply to video game love interests and Curly Fry. Typically, both of you can participate in a quality night getaway.

Many games include a character you can choose to begin a romantic relationship with, but only a few allow more than one character in a single playthrough. Whether it's due to indecision or a genuine attempt to portray polyamory in a positive light, it's nice to have more options.

Palia

The very cozy farming and living sim MMO Palia sees you playing as a human trying to make a life for yourself in a world where the helpful humanoid Majiri are supposedly the dominant race. Don't think too hard about the premise. You're here to farm, fish, mine, and maybe even kiss.

Many of the villagers you interact with and help are also romance options, and you can flirt with any of them. But while you can pursue multiple love interests, don't expect them all to be thrilled with the idea. There are no penalties, though, other than a little bit of sassy dialogue.

Even in the original Persona 3, players could consider how many characters they romanced. The only caveat is that you need to max out each person's social links before you start with them. Otherwise, someone will get jealous and you will lose progress on that person's link.

Persona 3 Reload removes these limitations, allowing you to now woo romance-loving girls in and out of your party, all at once, efficiently and without consequences. Now you can only be hindered by your own discretion, perhaps even your conscience.

Baldur's Gate 3

With deep passion

Unlike other games that allow you to romance multiple characters, Baldur's Gate 3 adds some nuance to the equation. The game's incredibly written cast can become quite complex with their motivations and emotions, which extend into many and varied romance arcs.

You can be polyamorous, but only if you're involved with the druid Halsin (yes, the bear guy). Most characters aren't as open-minded as the heroic Wyll, but some, like Shadowheart, are receptive if you keep the lines of communication open and honest. Such sensitive depictions of multiple partners are rare, but certainly appreciated.

If you want to fall in love with your every adventuring partner, Fallout 4 has you covered. Exploring the Commonwealth's wilderness can be much more enjoyable if you have a companion to travel with. More than one if you like mods.

But whether it's one or several at a time, there's no punishment or limit to pursuing romance with everyone from the cunning reporter Piper to the stubborn mercenary McCready. Romance isn't required to get all of the Fallout 4 companion perks, but it's a nice bonus.

For some people, the only thing more fun than hitting their friend is kissing them. But why stop there? Kiss your friend and then use that friend as a weapon to hit your other friend. Now it's efficiency. Meet the Boyfriend Dungeon. (They are not all men.)

In this game, you wield several shapeshifting humans who can transform into a variety of weapons. When you're not using them to fight your way through dungeons (with their consent, of course), you can hang out and get to know them better. There is no limit to the number of relationships you can have, and you can earn achievements by reaching the maximum number of relationships.

Farming Sim Stardew Valley is all about chill vibes. It can be lonely managing crops and houses, so the villagers are there for you. If you're feeling particularly full of beans, many of them could be potential romantic partners.

There's also (mostly) no limit to the number of people you can gather together while increasing your relationship levels. But if you end up romancing every possible man and woman, an event occurs where they discover what you did and dump you. So it's not polyamory friendly, but it's great for people with choice paralysis.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

“Romance” might be a strong word to describe some of the more whimsical interactions you can have with people in the Greek mythology playground of Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. As a playable character, Kassandra or Alexios will find many charming people who are willing to thank you for your help in a biblical way.

We never see anything deeper happening than Night of Passion (except for a certain unnamed DLC). But nothing can stop you from sweating through it all and imagining softer moments off-screen. It's much easier to make headcanons if you recruit as many lovers as possible to the crew of your ship.

Hades is a game that knows how to do a lot with very little. Gameplay involves traveling through the same areas over and over again while building up your strength and skills, and although there are few romance options, it's very satisfying.

As Zagreus, you can trigger things with the brutal Fury Megaera and Thanatos, Death himself. You can choose either or both, which will lead to a scene in Zag's bedroom where the three agree to enter into a polyamorous relationship. For a game set in a real-life underworld, it's surprisingly sweet and thoughtful.

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Break the 600-year dry spell

In Mass Effect: Andromeda, you are a human Pathfinder. Your mission is to carve a path and find a home for the people and other races that came with you to this unfamiliar galaxy. So, naturally, you can be flirting with a newly encountered being of an alien race literally minutes after first contact.

This new alien, Angara, is characterized by full romance and a casual personality, the latter of which is historian Avela Kjar. She and Asari filmmaker Keri T'Vessa are the only characters who, like Jaal, another romantic Angara, are able to be together as she pursues a fuller relationship with one of her teammates. Pick one for the “probably not polyamorous” aspect since it’s never really been resolved.

Communication is key in this CRPG

Pathfinder: Kingmaker is often cited as one of the best CRPGs, and its incredibly detailed and well-written polyamorous relationships are just one great indicator of the effort put into it. Party members Octavia and Regongar share a tragic interdependence. Players can optionally participate.

The two of you are bonded by trauma after going through hell together, and both are open to having you join the group.
