The Hardest Achievements in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Similar to the achievement list in Lollipop Chainsaw RePop, Capcom has toned down the difficulty here compared to the original Dead Rising. There are a lot of changes to the achievement list in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, with some achievements being removed and others having easier requirements.

The revamped save system helps a lot here, especially the auto-save. It's still hard for beginners, and there's one particular achievement that's both easier and much harder than it used to be. If a veteran returns, the change in achievement difficulty will be a nasty awakening and a shocking surprise.

10 Zombie Annihilator

You can achieve your first big success

value

explanation

20G/Gold

Defeat at least 53,594 zombies.

If you are an achievement/trophy hunter, you will want to get the Zombie Annihilator achievement as soon as possible. Getting it early will make all the other achievements much easier. To kill 53,594 zombies, you will need to use a vehicle to kill zombies in the maintenance tunnels. The best place to do this is the top left section where there are a ton of zombies.

Drive the red car into the tunnel and switch back and forth twice, then go east and get in the white car. Then switch back to that spot with that car, then use the truck at the same spot to switch back, then go back out and switch again. It will take a long time, but you will get the second best weapon in the game, the Real Mega Buster.

9 Snuff Shot B

A very missable achievement

value

explanation

20G/Bronze

Meet Zombie Brad.

There are a few story achievements in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster that you may miss, the first being Snuff Shot B. After you defuse all the bombs in Case 7-2, a cutscene will occur where Brad gets shot by Carlito and is surrounded by zombies.

After this is done, go back to the Maintenance Tunnels and go to the area with the Maintenance Tunnel Key. You will find Brad on the verge of death, who will eventually turn into a zombie, and you will get the Snuff Shot B achievement right after the cutscene. Most people will miss this one because they will not even think about going back to the tunnels.

8 Snuff Shot J

Another story achievement you might miss

value

explanation

20G/Bronze

Meet Zombie Jessie.

This scene is more likely to happen naturally, but many people still miss it. After completing The Facts, book straight into the security room. There will be several cutscenes with Jessie, and eventually Jessie will turn into a zombie. When you reach the security room, a zombie Jessie will pop out of the door in the main monitor area.

Many people will get this naturally. After completing The Facts, all you have to do in 72-hour mode is wait for the helicopter to pick you up. Why not just go there? However, many people will stay in Carlito's hideout, which is safer at this point in the game. Plus, you have to stay there to get Ending A.

7 Full set

It doesn't unlock as I thought

A fully finished laptop for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

value

explanation

20G/Bronze

Collect all the portraits in your notebook.

Collecting all the character portraits is something you do during your Survivor and Psychopath playthroughs that are required for other achievements. The problem with the Full Set, however, is that collecting all the portraits doesn't actually unlock them.

To actually get the achievements to show up, you have to go into the menu and go to the notebook section. Then the achievements show up. It's a bit weird, but once you figure it out, it's all good.

6 karate champion

More difficult than the original

value

explanation

20G/Bronze

Defeat at least 30 special forces with your bare hands.

In the original Dead Rising, Karate Champ required you to kill 1,000 zombies with your bare hands. That was already a long time coming, and while the Deluxe Remaster has shortened the time required for this achievement, Capcom has made it much harder.

Instead of killing 1,000 zombies, you have to kill 30 special forces soldiers, who are much more deadly. Karate Champ is one of those achievements where you’ll want to use the autosave feature, because the special forces can kill you so quickly, and because they kill you with their bare hands, it takes even longer to deal with them.

5 saint

Perfect run

value

explanation

20G/Gold

Get at least 50 survivors out of the mall.

After you get the Real Mega Buster, you will want to optimize your achievements by doing a perfect run, killing all the psychopaths and rescuing all the survivors. You will get all the story-related achievements, the achievement for killing 10 psychopaths, and the Saint achievement. It may seem simple because escorting survivors is much easier than the original.

Escorting survivors is easy, except for the cultist with dynamite in his hand. The problem is that, with the unannounced scoop, you still need to use the guide to find survivors that Otis didn't call. Just like the original, Frank and Isabella will get the Saint achievement for clearing Overtime mode in addition to the 49, bringing the total to 51.

4 juice freak

Another thing you should use a guide for

value

explanation

20G/Bronze

Try making all kinds of blended juices.

For many players, one of the most underused mechanics in Dead Rising is probably the mixing juices. Not only do they replenish a whopping 6 blocks of health, but their effects are mostly amazing. There are 7 of them in total, and the reason this mechanic is not used much is probably because you have to know how to make each one.

The game doesn't provide this information for free, so you'll have to experiment, or more likely, find a guide. With a guide, you can get this achievement pretty quickly.

3 PP collector

The most annoying collectible in the game

value

explanation

20G/Bronze

Take a picture of each PP sticker.

If there’s one annoyance in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster that wasn’t there in the original, it’s the PP stickers. All 100 of them are in the same location, but getting them to trigger on the camera can be a Herculean task. The Space Rider in Wonderland Plaza and the Clock Tower in Leisure Park are two notable areas where this issue exists.

You have to be at a decent distance for the PP marker on the camera to actually show up. It's pretty annoying, but at least all locations are shown in the menu. It's also worth noting that you have to be caught by the cult to find certain PP stickers that some people might not know about.

2 The grateful eight

Not the most convenient feat

value

explanation

20G/Bronze

At the same time, escort 8 female survivors.

The Grateful Eight is easier than the Frank The Pimp achievement in the original game, but not by much. What makes both achievements annoying is that you can't get them if you're doing a perfect run, because the path doesn't really allow it. You have to get them in a separate playthrough, which is frustrating.

To get this achievement, you can use the old strategies of rescuing the sisters in Paradise Plaza, rescuing all the women in Wonderland during the Above The Law scoop, and having the women kidnapped by the cultists. However, there are faster routes due to the time skip mechanic, so it may be worth doing those routes to speed up your Platinum journey.

1 7 day survivor

The most infamous feat returns with a vengeance

value

explanation

20G/Gold

Survive for at least 7 days.

The achievement that has seen the biggest difficulty change so far is probably 7 Day Survivor. The most notorious achievement in the original required 14 hours of continuous play. That point has been removed in Deluxe Remaster due to the time skip feature, so you can reach day 7 in about 3 hours and 30 minutes this time around. However, Capcom has significantly increased the core difficulty here.

After the third day, the cultists and eventually the special forces will appear in the mall. Everything changes because the special forces are so deadly that you have to take a safer route to get food. The cinema bathroom is a safe place, and you can safely go to the Leisure Park. Be careful because one of the special forces can end the Infinity Mode run.
