If you liked Mega Evolution's best chase cards, there's Mega Evolution Promos, another Pokemon TCG subset that adds more Pokemon in a similar style. As with the main set, the variety of Pokémon within the Mega Evolution promotion is impressive, offering a mix of both popular favorites and underrated gems.
Whether it's amazing illustrated rares or exclusive employee promotions, some of the most expensive Mega Evolution promotions will offer something appealing to a wide range of collectors. These promotions are coming back, but the best ones command surprisingly high prices.
Cards are ordered based on the TCGplayer market price at the time of this writing, which may change over time as new promotions are released.
lost among leaders
This simple Psyduck promotion may seem lost among the impressively high price tags commanded by the most valuable Mega Evolutions promotions, but Psyduck's popularity helps explain the value of this card. The Pokemon seems to be enjoying a relaxing day among the lily pads, getting rid of the thoughts and pain in his head.
While it's likely one of the most valuable Mega Evolution promotions to be limited in time, it's still surprising that this underdog promotion is getting its 15 minutes among the big dogs.
plain jane
Alakazam will be a very familiar face when we review the most valuable Mega Evolution promotions in the coming years. This Pokemon already boasts some beautiful cards, some of which are among the most expensive.
Like Psyduck, Alakazam benefits from nostalgic value and general popularity, which may be part of the reason it boasts unusually high representation in this subset.
The only distinguishing factor that makes this card stand out is the Mega Evolution stamp, which leaves plenty of room to build other valuable versions.
simple moon
Speaking of precious stamp cards, the Lunatone Staff promotion has a huge lead over the last one by about $30. This lead could easily disappear as new promo cards are released, but Lunatone doesn't have to worry about topping the charts from Alakazam's standard Mega Evolution promo.
This card is not intended to attract attention with flashy colors or explosive battle scenes, but rather a warm depiction of Lunatone's relaxed and leisurely design nestled between the mountains and the sky.
rise and fall
Meganium jumped out to be an impressive value in the high $70 price range, but has since declined, giving way to a Pokemon Center exclusive promotion that was destined for bigger things anyway.
Meganium has been striving to make a lasting impact since debuting with two of the coolest starters in Totodile and Cyndaquil.
This card's TCG career is incredibly young and full of peaks and valleys, but early signs point to the next card maintaining its lead over Meganium with such beautiful artwork.
Big love for the baby version of Lucario
The main Mega Evolution set features some incredibly well-drawn and rare illustrations, so it's nice to see the Mega Evolution promotion continue to use the same artist and style. This Riolu Pokemon Center exclusive stamp version stands out thanks to equal parts bright colors and the all-important stamp in the bottom right.
Riolu, which costs roughly $75, will likely hold its value or continue to rise, given the popularity of Lucario and the appeal Riolu has for cute Pokémon lovers and Lucario fans alike.
Peek at the chart
Inteleon isn't typically featured on promo cards, but it manages to occupy a top spot, impressive among these expensive Mega Evolution promos.
The price tag of this promotion comes thanks to the employee's unique differentiation, but when other similar versions are released, Inteleon is unlikely to top it. However, the Inteleon currently boasts a price tag of around $75 that will keep it at the top for the foreseeable future.
Description of the epic Alakazam
You may have been looking forward to the arrival of Alakazam, but its triple-digit price tag still exceeds our expectations, as this card sets a new standard for the most valuable Mega Evolution promo price.
Alakazam's popularity is undoubtedly impressive, but with this Pokemon already setting the bar for exceeding $100, the future for this subset of Pokemon TCG promotions is likely to exceed that number. It's impossible to predict the future, but expect this Alakazam to be one of the best Mega Evolution promotions in a long time.
Staff Perks
Alakazam has upgraded itself with an employee promotional version that boasts a hefty price tag thanks to its exclusivity. The only place non-employee members can find this card is on the secondary market, so prices can fluctuate significantly depending on current availability.
The reverse holographic base of this card leaves plenty of room for the 'Mega Evolution' and 'Staff' stamps to shine in the bottom corner of the piece, and this card takes the crown as the best Mega Evolution promotion to date.
