The Outer Worlds 2 has a very solid character creator, similar to what we got in Avowed, but with a few new options. It was so good, in fact, that I found myself going back mid-play to see what the characters looked like in action, and then wanting to tweak them a bit and make changes that reflected what was going on in the story. Unfortunately, this isn't possible in The Outer Worlds 2 as there is no way to customize your character's appearance after creation.
Fortunately, a fan has already come to the rescue. Among the mods already available for download for The Outer Worlds 2 is the character editor from Nexus Mods user nathdev. This allows you to change your character's appearance and stats on the fly, so you're not locked into the choices you made at the start of your journey.
If you're having issues with your character creator, this mod for Outer Worlds 2 is a must.
As you can see from the mod in action, the character creator does not open from the start of the game. Instead, you simply access a number of drop-down boxes that allow you to move between your character's various features.
So, if you want to change your character's appearance as you progress through the story, this mod is a must. Speaking from experience, ~ no Find out how you can edit your appearance in-game. Trust me. I was looking for options when I played The Outer Worlds 2 for a review.
This isn't all that surprising, since Avowed also lacked the ability to customize your character once you started playing. This is a disappointing feature in Obsidian games. Especially since other RPGs have been using this feature for a long time. Of course, some games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur's Gate 3 required post-launch additions, so it's possible the same thing will happen here, but there's no word on that yet.
Anyway, if you have the premium edition, you can play The Outer Worlds 2 right now. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until its wider release on October 29th.
