In a night full of surprises and reveals, one of the biggest without a doubt was the cinematic trailer for The Witcher 4. The Witcher 4 has finally confirmed its official name and confirmed that Ciri will be the main character. This is despite the fact that the game has only recently entered full development and we won't be seeing it for quite some time.

The Witcher 4 is following Cyberpunk 2077's mistakes.
The Witcher 4 has to decide if it wants to live up to Cyberpunk 2077's toxic hype cycle.
As exciting as it was to see Ciri take on her Witcher role after being teased so much in The Witcher 3, one of the biggest questions fans naturally had was about the status of Geralt, the series' other main protagonist. . There's no telling whether he'll be in the game or not, but it doesn't seem as likely as you might think.
Don't worry. Geralt of Rivia “can't go anywhere”
Shortly after The Witcher 4 was revealed, IGN published an article talking to two CD Projekt Red developers about “what you need to know” about the game. While this primarily serves as a way to catch up with fans about the world of The Witcher and Ciri's role, the featurette also includes some very interesting reactions to whether or not Geralt will appear.
When asked about the possibility of Geralt's return, franchise and lore designer (and TheGamer alumnus too!) Cian Maher was a little cautious with his response, but made it clear that Geralt didn't suffer a bad fate. Maher said Geralt will “probably” be around for a long time and actually makes an implied appearance in the epilogue of Season of Storms, which takes place 101 years after The Witcher 3.
Geralt will probably be around for a long time. Storm Season has an epilogue. It is set in Magpie Forest in 1373, 101 years after The Witcher 3. And the epilogue features a white-haired Witcher hunting down unnamed monsters that behave in a certain way. And apparently he has gray hair. I think we can expect Geralt to be around for a long time. – Sian Maher
Maher ended his statement about Geralt by specifically mentioning that he “expects to be around for a long time” and that he “isn't going anywhere.” While it's not a concrete statement about the character's return, it does suggest he's active during the events of The Witcher 4, and that's not impossible.
Of course, this has become even clearer thanks to recent comments made by Geralt's voice actor, Doug Cockle, after initially suggesting he would appear in The Witcher 4, only to be told by CD Projekt Red that this hasn't been confirmed yet. Putting two and two together, it becomes clear that we'll be seeing Geralt in some capacity in the next game.
