Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 didn't get off to a good start. Pre-release reviews were mixed, and the general consensus was that it was now a flawed masterpiece just like its predecessor. This is just flawed. But it found its fans, some of whom wanted to have another vampire game.
For now, The Chinese Room is sticking with the game, releasing a new update with big fixes and customization options. The developers say they may also add other features, such as custom difficulty settings and a FOV slider, but it doesn't seem like the requested features are guaranteed.
Chinese Bang is working on Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 and there are already a few fixes.
This Halloween-themed update adds new cosmetic options for Phyre. These include:
-
eight hairstyles
-
Eight makeup styles
-
eight eye colors
There are too many technical fixes and improvements to list here, but it seems like many of my complaints have been resolved. This update should fix various crashes and bugs, and you can now unlock two buggy achievements as intended.
Future updates are mentioned, but they don't seem to be confirmed. The Chinese Room says it “may offer” more fan-requested features.
“In future updates, we are looking at including features such as a FOV slider, a new save game option, custom difficulty settings and additional customization options, including the ability to only play Phyre’s story on a second playthrough,” the blog post reads.
The problem with save files has to do with the fact that you can't actually save them wherever you want. There is only autosave, which means players will close the game and lose a lot of their progress. I hope this is one of the updates, because a manual save system should be standard in games like this.
