You need to find a dark amethyst
You actually need Dark Amethyst to open the Necromancy of Thay book. Thankfully, this can also be found in Blighted Village. More specifically, it can be found under the town's well in the Matriarch Spider's lair. You will need to go down this well (or tear down the wall leading to the cave below the well in the blacksmith's cellar). To the west of this cave, you can find a Dark Amethyst in a pile of bones behind all the Phase Spiders and their Mistresses.
The standard route is to first defeat all of these spiders and then get the Dark Amethyst. However, you can also use Stealth or Invisibility to sneak past the spider, grab the Amethyst, and teleport away, but this is much trickier.
