WARNING: The following contains minor spoilers for the plot of the Dandadan manga, which has not yet been included in the anime. Dandadan is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.

For some strange reason, every alien that has appeared in a movie so far has Dan Dan Dan Episode 6 “A Dangerous Woman Arrives” There is currently only one target. Obtaining “banana organs” from humans. You'd think it would mean something else and that it's just obvious satire. But that's not the case. The aliens literally want to acquire human reproductive organs, even resorting to abduction to obtain them. It's outrageous, scary, and strange, but these aliens actually traveled hundreds or even thousands of light years for some humans to make babies with them.

In other fictional media and popular culture, aliens are generally considered to be much more advanced than humans. Most of the time they visit Earth in search of something, be it resources, a new place to stay, people or things lost on Earth. If they are so much more advanced than humans, why would they want humanity's less evolved/developed organs?

Dandadan's true story is just beginning.

The hunt to find Okarun's family jewels begins slowly, but to Ayase and Okarun's surprise, the first of the elusive pair finds its way to them.

What do Dandadan's aliens want with human bananas?

Serpians need banana organs to reproduce

Serpoians, also called Serpo Aliens, are the first alien species. Dan Dan DanAppears in episode 1, ‘You know that’s how love begins!’ There, they kidnap the protagonist, a high school gyaru named Momo Ayase, in order to steal her “Banana Organ”. Yes, it's as wild as you think, but luckily Momo escapes using her newfound powers and her possessed schoolmate Ken Takakura.

So why did the Serpoians go around stealing banana organs in the first place? Aside from the obvious answer that series creator Yukinobu Tatsu thought it was fun, the lore reason they were looking for cool beats was because they needed them for better reproduction. The Serpoian species consists only of males and cannot reproduce naturally. They can reproduce through cloning techniques, but that method does not seem to allow biological evolution to occur. Obtaining female reproductive organs could allow for sexual reproduction and improve the species in the long run.

Our species has only males. So we reproduce through cloning techniques… but identical units do not drive biological evolution.

Now this answer raises more questions, such as “How did Serpoians reproduce before they invented cloning technology?” Maybe I'm thinking too much at this point, but for anyone who really wants answers, the female of that species may have just died at some point, and we may have been lucky enough to be close to developing cloning technology at that time.

The Flatwoods monsters want the banana organs because they work for/with the Serpoians.

Serpoian and Flatwoods Monster Link

The Serpoians wanted banana organs for reproduction, but what about the Flatwoods Monster? Dan Dan DanEpisode 2, “That’s a space alien, right?!”? Are there also single gender issues that Serpoian had? In that episode, Momo unknowingly allowed threats to enter her home and family shrine by removing a protective amulet from the torii gate at the entrance. She did so to protect Okarun (Ken Takakura's new nickname), as the amulet could sense the evil spirit within him and burn him when he entered it. But with the amulet gone, the temple became vulnerable to attack, which the Flatwoods Monster was quick to take advantage of. To Momo and Okarun's surprise, these new aliens also wanted banana organs.

Unlike Serpoians, Flatwoods Monsters did not need banana organs for reproduction. Instead, his motive was to receive orders from the Serpo people to chase Momo and Okarun and steal their organs. The Flatwoods Monster calls the two bad people for breaking their promise. This may have been the story given to him by the Serpoians. However, it is never explicitly stated what exactly the connection is between the two alien species, whether the Flatwoods Monster was hired by the Serpoians, a slave of the Serpoians, or doing them a favor.

Dandan: An Explanation of Ayase Seiko's Powers and Abilities

Yukinobu Tatsu's masterpiece features several powerful characters. Here's why Seiko still leaves a lasting impression.

Why do aliens call it a banana organ?

Even if the organ they are looking for is a female organ.

Dandan-2-Okarun-Momo-Special

Okay, the Serpoians are looking for female reproductive organs to reproduce more efficiently, and they used the Flatwoods Monster to steal some. However, this does not explain why it is called a “banana organ” when no human female reproductive organs are visible.

Because Serpoians are exclusively male, they only have one type of primary reproductive organ. And if they call them “bananas,” they probably call the reproductive organs of all other living things the same thing. They may not understand the concept of how organs differ depending on human gender. Another possibility is that the Serpoians may not know what the human women you know look like. They may simply think that all reproductive organs look like bananas. This is because the reproductive system has its own foundation.

Don't worry. The other aliens on Dandadan are not hungry for bananas.

Good news for Momo, Okarun, and all humanity.

More alien species will appear other than the Serpoians and Flatwoods Monster. Dan Dan DanAnd thankfully, not all of them are hungry for genitals. Some people will seek power, knowledge, and other things that have nothing to do with their genitals. Some aliens may come without evil intentions, so look for friendships between aliens and humans in the future. Dan Dan Dan.

But it's not just aliens who have an obsession with family jewels. Sometimes monsters like Turbo Granny steal gems just for fun. And for those anime-only fans who thought Serpoians was a one-off from the pilot episode, you're sorely mistaken. The Serpoians will return with vengeance, so you'd better hide the bananas.
