Collingwood great Dane Swan just couldn’t help himself after the Pies secured a nailbiting win over longtime rival Carlton on Friday night.

Nick Daicos kicked the match sealing goal with a tick over 60 seconds left in the contest as the Pies won 12.13 (85) to 12.7 (79).

Shortly after the final siren had sounded, Swan unleashed as poured salt into the wounds of Blues fans.

“Carlton may end up going further than the Pies this year but one thing will always be certain – they’ll always be our little b*tch,” he posted on X.

“Once again they just rolled over and let us pet their belly’s.”

The upload left Blues fans incensed and saw many blasting Swan while pointing to the Grand Final record between the two teams.

One Blues fan responded: “Good call! 5-1 in grand finals.”

Another disgruntled Blues supporter wrote: “Thats funny considering the Pies have only beaten Carlton once in a grand final and the blues have done it 5 times. Would say it’s the other way around.”

The Pies win is the 132nd for them against the Blues with Carlton having 129 against their foes. They’ve also have four draws in their long-running rivalry.

Throughout Swans career he played the Blues 23 times, winning 15 and losing only eight.

In a seesawing second half, the lead changed hands four times and the scores were locked with less than three minutes left before Daicos kicked the sealer for the Pies.

“It was a good feeling,” Daicos said post-match.

“We missed a couple before it and you start to get a little bit nervous.

“Just lucky it went through.”

“The legend is growing right before our eyes – and the legend is Nick Daicos,” Melbourne champion Garry Lyon told Fox Footy.

“We’re just seeing some feats in this game here … the story is just starting, but the game is in the balance, he’s got Sam Walsh – who’s been outstanding – on his tail and he slots that from the boundary to win the match!

“The legend is growing every single time we watch him.”

Triple premiership Lion Jonathan Brown declared “there’s not many capable of kicking that”, while seven-time All-Australian Nathan Buckley pointed out how difficult the goal was.

“When he saw that loose ball, he was on it like a seagull on a hot chip. He was all over it and was then skilful enough to finish,” Buckley told Fox Footy.

“At a stoppage when you get time to set up, you very rarely get one step, let alone finding the four or five metres he was able to find, at that pace across his boot – and the goal umpire didn’t move.”

Four-time premiership Hawk Jordan Lewis added: “To do that and kick that goal on that angle at such an important time, the legend just grows at such a young age for this man.”
