A man who claims to have the longest penis in Britain has said its hard work being 12 inches long.

Matt Barr said assumptions people with elongate appendages were more virile was a “myth,” and if he had a choice he’d have a “normal” penis size.

Recent research from the UK has shown despite the apparent fascination with penis size most women are keener on girth over length.

Talking to UK television show This Morning, Mr Barr, 40, said he first realised his 30.5cm penis was larger than normal during physical education classes at school.

He was shy when he was young, he said, and desperately wanted to be “normal” like his fellow students.

As he has got older he said he had found having larger genitalia came with downsides – including that he felt obligated to tell people he was dating before they found out themselves.

“It’s difficult, because it’s not something you really spring on people as a surprise, because it just does scare people away generally,” he told the ITV show.

“But obviously [you can’t be] creepy and bring it up too early. [But] how you start that conversation?”

One date he went on turned into a nightmare when he realised he was being set up to appear in pornography.

The woman had an “ulterior motive,” Mr Barr said, and wanted to him to appear on OnlyFans from which she would make money from.

It was common he said for people to want him “for a selling point for adult work”.

Mr Barr also said he was chucked out of a yoga class one because people thought he was aroused.

“I was wearing a very baggy shirt and shorts [and due to the] yoga positions, people just got the wrong idea.”

Mr Barr is in the process of writing a book about his manhood provisionally called A Long Story: Life with one of the World’s Largest Penises.

He said bigger was not always better.

“Even if it’s beneficial in some ways … there are practical issues.

“It’s not what people want, people just want you to be normal when you’re not.

“People make fun of you or say you’re a freak”.

Mr Barr also said there were a lot of assumptions about men with large penises which weren’t the truth.

“People think (having a large penis) is more virile, more manly – these are just the myth because the people who are bragging about it often aren’t (those things).”

He told host Ben Shepherd that he had looked into reducing surgically the size of his penis but it was risky and expensive – potentially costing close to $30,000.

‘It’s not done very often. It’s only done normally for tumours and things like that. And in the case of normal function, it’s not common”.

Mr Barr said he wanted to talk about penis size to dispel stigmas about it.

“I don’t see why there’s any difference talking about this and talking about your breasts or any other bodily part … it’s not sexualised. It’s just a fact of life”.

Girth, not length, is key

Earlier this year, academics at the University of Kent, in the UK’s south, released a study that debunked some of the biggest myths about sexual pleasure for women.

By analysing 265 sex toys, the study assessed factors such as size, material, price, and customer reviews to uncover what women really like in bed.

The findings were very revealing, showing circumference trumps length in importance when it comes to women’s preferences.

It also dispels the long-held belief that “bigger is better’” in the context of sexual satisfaction.

Researchers concluded that “women don’t place considerable emphasis on large phallus size”.

Australian men have the 43rd biggest penises in the world, a study of international penis sizes found in 2022.

The average erect length of an Australian penis is 5.69 inches (14.4cm) – beating the British, Mr Barr excepted, who measure up at an average of 5.17 inches (13.1cm).
